Re-organizing my makeup storage

Over the last couple of weeks I've barley had time to tidy my room, let alone re-organize things. I'm really fond of keeping my make-up space a real treasure. I'm lucky that over the last couple of years, and houses I've lived in (at uni etc) that I've always had some form of space to display things. Whilst with my nan currently I'm using the dressing table area in my room, my grandad actually built this along with the rails either side - whos up for a room tour? - and its so so perfect for all my acrylic storage. I need to film a video of all this for you guys asap, but for now I thought I'd share what I spent last night doing!

What do you think?

Maybelline colour drama : 'in with coral'

Maybelline colour drama - 'in with coral' - £4.99

I know I know, fire away with another new lip product ... I am obsessed. Maybelline isn't a brand I shop often, not for any particular reason, just because I've always stayed true to the regular brands I've loved always. However I took a trip to Bluewater with Aimee last week and I saw the colour of this pencil and picked it up on a whim. I've always had a thing for packaging - and the product being in a pencil intrigued me. I've only ever tried the Topshop lip crayons, and I didn't enjoy them atall. However this pencil for just £4.99 is a complete steal. This coral shade is a really good colour for a paler skin tone as I often find light coral colours wash me out or make my teeth look yellow. Maybelline describe it as a velvet lip pencil, and I whole heatedly agree with that statement, the pencil isn't dry and the pigmentation is incredible. My only negative points on this product are that its a little small, I'd love a larger size of this and I do worry how I'm going to sharpen it! You also need to be super careful not loosing the product when you put the lid on as it is a creamy product that does get damaged easily. I'm really enjoying this pencil and I'm looking forward to grabbing a few more in Boots ASAP!

Nars : killing me softly blush palette

Nars 'killing me softly' blush palette £30
This is a bit of belated post, whilst in Paris I dragged Dan around every possible Saphora to try and find the infamous Guy Bourdin One night stand palette however, we had no luck. But I was determined to own a nars blush palette so that I could try out minatures before investing in a full pan size and because of my great experiance with the laguna bronzer, so needless to say the next best thing fell into my basket - enter the killing me softly blush palette.
Let me start by saying I am a sucker for nice packaging and Nars do have the nicest packaging for blushers and bronzers in my opinion and the small mirror inside the compact really comes in handy.
In terms of the product I've been using the Orgasm shade the most, the darker shade on the left gets little use as its a little to dark for my pale complexion and the top left is very coral if you like a corally finish. I do really enjoy the albatross highlighter featured in this palette however the section of the palette that holds it is so small its hard to pick it up out of the pan with a normal sized brush.
I do think this was a little over priced for the amount of product you get, however its good for trying out different shades before commiting to one daddy sized one!
These are sold out now, but nars always offers these mini palettes, its best to pick one of these up if you are looking for a) a mixture of blushes in one to try or b) your first delve into nars.

Have you been trying any blush palettes recently?

Rihanna for MAC : 'Love rihanna' bronzer

Rihanna for MAC 'Love me' bronzer - limited edition (sold out)

If theres one thing I love, its mac cosmetics. I used to have a serious penchant for Rihanna back in the day also, and this combined with a limited editon collection, well lets just say I was sold from the get go. HOWEVER. I never actually thought I'd own this! I missed it on shops and online because of being so bloomin' busy and I actually forgot all about it. When my 21st birthday presents arrived from the Welsh Hughies and this was inside needless to say I nearly died. Ever since I picked up the Nars Laguna bronzer, I've noticed how much better a darker and more brown bronzer works for me. Being a sibling of casper the friendly ghost means alot of bronzers look horrifically orange on me. This little beauty really shocked me actually. At first I was'nt a fan on the literal golden bronze metalic power in the pan, however on application its actually really subtle. This bronzer is so differently toned to any other I own, it literal is bronze if that makes sense, not orange, not brown but bronze. I've been using this literally every day for contouring my cheek bones since I brought it, and I'm starting to get through the sheen of metalically bronze on top and its still applying like a dream. Its a shame this is limited edition beause I really do enjoy this product!

Benefit : Stay Flawless Primer & Hello Flawless Foundation

*LONG* positive and honest review!
You probably remember me posting about the benefit event a week or two back (read that HERE if you did'nt) the event was to launch Benefit's new product. 'Stay Flawless' is boasted about as a 15 hour pro-long primer. Which works as a magnet between your foundation and your face, promising to keep your makeup looking fresh hour after hour, infact 94% said that their foundation lasted longer. Lets take a look at the product...

Looks:
Pretty packaging  check. Easy application? check. Sturdy applicator? check. Aesthetically this little bullet of primer ticks all beauty lovers beady eyes.
The product:
Firstly you may assume that this transfers colour on to your face, You'd be totally wrong, when applied this is a completely colourless product, meaning no orange tones for us paler faces!
Application:
To apply you are supposed to used circular motions to activate the magnetic makeup inside. When first applying the product does feel sticky and you need to be light with this - too much pressure and you can start to see the product caking and building up.
Claims against reality?:
When I applied the Hello Flawless oxygen wow foundation over the top, I COULD feel the makeup sticking to the primer and locking it in place as promised - I promise!
Effects on skin?:
I've also noticed since using this primer and foundation my break outs have been next to minimal? crazy right?
Doubts?:
I've used other primers which you squeeze out and apply using fingers - and I do like this applicator, however I'd be dubious to use it if I did have a break out - I don't want to spread the germs around my face!

I'm not usually one to write such a long review on a product but this really has changed my mind about primers - this adds coverage to my foundation and leaves my skin less spot prone.

- - - - - - - - -

It would only be right to review the Hello Flawless foundation with the primer as they are designed to work together.

Coverage?:
Described as light/medium coverage I was happily surprised.  I'm a high coverage girl, I live by double wear and studio fix - however I'm finding myself reaching for this foundation more than those two now!
Colour?:
I was matched as 'I'm pure 4 sure' at the benefit one of two of the lightest shades (one with a yellow pigmentation and one with pink) and I've got a really good colour match surprisingly.  Teamed with the primer these two offer a really good coverage and you need only touch up angry blemishes and any extra dark under eye circles.
Finish?:
I've found as a duo these offer a really nice dewey finish - not greasy, and I don't think this is going to be for you if your after a matte finish. Although saying that I'd previously sworn I'd never embrace a dewy finish but now I'm LOVING it.
Doubts?:
My only complaint is that its very easily transferable, as in if anything touches my face its gonna transfer on to it.

Benefit has completely changed my makeup routine, I'm currently using their primer, foundation, highlighter AND mascara? I don't think I've ever used so many products from one brand in my daily routine - I shall be posting about this ASAP. I've never been so pleasantly surprised by products, despite these being free products I am being 100% genuine and like you other pale faced girls I am surprised too!

My advice? Grab a bullet of stay flawless due to be released in around 2 weeks now for £24.50 and while your at it .. grab the foundation too. Great products 10/10

Have you used any Benefit products lately?
What do you think of their new primer?

Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte lipstick in 'Rose Culte'

Yes, my fellow lipstick hauders, I caved and purchased a beautiful YSL lipstick. However, I did have a £10 West Quay voucher, so this beauty cost me just £14.50 infact - as I cannot justify nearly thirty pounds for a lipstick right now!
The Rouge Volupte lipsticks are SO hyped all over blogspot, and I'd be lying if I said one of the reasons I brought the lipstick in the first place wasn't because of the packaging  By far the most sturdy applicator I have ever had the pleasure to own, the gold harcasing is beautiful and heavy to hold not light and cheap if that makes sense, I actually sat with the YSL women at the counter for about half an hour picking a shade, I'd seen so so many lovely nudey, coraly shades on other bloggers but with my pale skin and at the time red hair I knew it wasn't an option. I wanted a day time lipstick but a shade that didn't look like I'd picked it up from a highstreet retailer. Rose Culte is a beautiful bright raspberry pink, enough to give your daily makeup a pop of colour without being too in your face. I actually had two people ask me where it was from whilst wearing it! one at work and the other was a bank cashier! The formula is creamy and moisturizer it almost reminds me of a mixture between a lip butter and a mac lipstick - I've never experienced a formula like it, I would recommend a lip brush to apply as the shape of the product is hard to get onto your lips. All in all I'm so chuffed I own one of these beauties and it has pride of place ontop of my makeup collection!

Do you have any YSL lipsticks?
Will you be purchasing one?

MAC Archie's Girls 'Daddy's little girl' lipstick

MAC Archie's Girls 'Daddy's little girl' £15.50 Sold Out

I brought two lipsticks from the Archie's girls collection one from the Veronica collection and one from the Betty collection which you can view here. I actually photographed this ages ago and totally forgot to post it! 'Daddy's little girl' is a satin forumla lipstick meany a creamy finish with a slight sheen. Mac describes it as a 'mid-tone pink violet' it has real strong blue undertones which isn't usually something I tend to go for, however its a really nice purpley colour and I usually wear it as a statement lip. Its super opaque a couple of swipes and you have full coverage and it doesn't sink in any cracks on your lips. Amazing quality from MAC as always!

What do you think of purple lipsticks?
Did you buy any of the Archie's girls collection?

MAC : Marilyn Monroe

If you follow my blog often you will realise alot of my beauty posts feature or are reviewing MAC products. With a family member working for the company and a constant need to know whats next I'm usually fairly up to date with new ranges/collections up and coming from MAC after pestering my source and the internet!. So it excites me to find information relating a new collection ...

YES A new collection based around Marilyn Monroe!

This particular collection excites me not so much because of Marilyn, I personally don't idolise her atall, Of course every woman admires her curves and confidence but for me, Its more about this collection being one that I think will be more wearable for many more people and will hopefully be less daunting for people who have been so far afraid to splurge a bit of money on MAC cosmetics.
As usual MAC has came up with some beautifully creative names, leaving each one of the 30 limited edition pieces with its own fitting name. I'm not particularly fond of the use of image on the packaging but I understand the reasoning.I'm particularly interested in the lipsticks (aren't I always?!) and the eyeshadows.
